I tend to focus largely on Asian teas, there are a few exceptions but most of the teas I drink are Chinese or Japanese with a few thrown in from other Asian countries. I know very little about African teas but I got this Malawi green tea in a sale and I was curious.
Sorry about the blurred pic I didn’t realize it was blurred until I’d already drunk the tea and couldn’t take another as the leaves were now wet. The leaves are very dark for a green tea.
It produces a green liquor reminiscent of Mao Feng. Side note: I got a new celadon tea cup with a lotus design inside, its huge for a Chinese cup as it holds 110 ml/ 3.3 us fl oz of tea).
Brewing parameters: 2-3 minutes at 80 degrees Celsius (176 Fahrenheit)
My brewing parameters: 2 minutes at 80 degrees Celsius (176 Fahrenheit)
Taste: Mild, herbaceous, vegetal.
Subsequent steepings: I don’t think this works that well being resteeped I found the second steeping a lot weaker than the first.
Conclusion: A pleasant enough tea but its a bit like Mao Feng and I prefer the Mao Feng.
